UPDATE

MAY 2021

The staff and pupils have continued to work incredibly hard since we returned after the Easter holidays and lots of positive progress has been made in terms of our whole school attainment and our COVID Recovery. We have lots to do in the run up to the summer holidays so please ensure that your child continues to attend school on time, every day, unless they are feeling unwell.

Sad News

As a school community we were deeply saddened to hear that our Catering Manager, Gillian, had passed away. Gillian had spent a number of weeks in hospital and sadly lost her fight with COVID a few weeks ago.Gillian was extremely kind to all of our pupils and always looked for ways to make the children feel special. The children experienced her kindness when her team made up Halloween, Christmas & Easter treat bags. Her funeral will take place on Monday 24th June and representatives from across the Campus will be in attendance to pay their respects on behalf of the whole Campus.A floral tribute, from the Campus, will also be delivered to Gillian’s family. After discussion with Gillian’s family, our staff team will also make a donation to The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre in Gillian’s memory.

Pupil Progress Reports

Your child’s class teacher is currently preparing their pupil progress report. This report will highlight your child’s progress in terms of National Expectations, their strengths and their areas for development. By the end of this term, despite COVID restrictions, our staff will have provided updates on your child’s progress on three occasions over the course of this academic year. It has been unfortunate that we have been unable to host face-to-face Parent Consultation Evenings this year but hopefully we can return to our previous way of operating next session.

Sacramental Celebrations

Congratulations to our pupils in P7 who received the Sacrament of Confirmation earlier this week; they were an absolute credit to yourselves, your parents/carers and to our school. Also, a big well done to our P3 & P4 pupils who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation at the end of April; the respect they demonstrated throughout the service was outstanding. Many thanks to Miss Pattison, Miss Bonner and Miss Fee for working really hard to ensure that the children were well prepared. Thanks also to Mrs Barclay, Mrs Corner and Mrs McGeady for ensuring that our Sacramental Celebrations went off without a hitch. I am also deeply grateful for the spiritual support and guidance that Fr. Hendry provides to our staff, pupils and our wider school community. He is a much loved member of our school community and I would like to thank him for supporting us on our faith journey.

We are looking forward to celebrating our First Holy Communions on Saturday 19th June.

Classification – August 2021

I am still awaiting confirmation of my staffing allocation for next year; hopefully I will be in a position to provide you with an update regarding this before we break up for the summer.

Summer Programme

We were delighted to receive a substantial amount of money from Glasgow City Council to enable our Summer Holiday Programme to go ahead. Achieve More Scotland will have full responsibility for this programme and application forms will be provided to those who responded to the survey. This programme will be open to pupils from St. Teresa’s and Saracen. Achieve More Scotland can accommodate up to 100 pupils per day; once the application forms have been completed we will be in touch to let you know what dates your child has been allocated. The survey is still open so please don’t miss out on this opportunity.
